Love Civilization
Are schools to teach a love for our civilization, or a mission to destroy it?
Until a few years ago it would have been accepted unquestioningly that a school in Britain should inform children with a knowledge, appreciation and love of Western Civilization. That is what most parents, especially those paying for private education, expect and wish for, and that includes foreign parents who deliberately choose an English school for their children.
Today the educational establishment has been colonised by zealots who think they have a higher mission: to condemn and destroy Western Civilization, on the pretext that it is not Equal. The Far Left has stolen a march on parents, imposing its beliefs on the curriculum, through guidance and the influence of ideologically-driven independent providers of specialist education, notably in the highly-controversial area of relationships and sex education.
If our civilization is allowed to collapse, it will not be replaced by a progressive utopia. It will be replaced by chaos and barbarism.
Heads of schools and departments face considerable pressure to conform to the Far Left’s programme for our children. If there is no firm stand from parents, then it can be difficult for schools to stand up to the demands of the Far Left. Parents need to redress the imbalance, supporting school leaders with a strong assertion of what we expect from schools.
Human Rights Act 1998 Schedule 1
Part II Article 2
The State shall respect the right of parents to ensure such education and teaching in conformity with their own religious and philosophical convictions.
